The theme of the first Provincial professional development conference of the Native Education Association of Ontario is “ Pinzindàn” which means “Listening”. We have chosen this theme because we are a new organization and we need to hear from both our members and our community about how we can develop Native Language,
Native Studies and Aboriginal specific programming in schools. NEAO is holding its first Professional Development Conference and Annual General Meeting on Feb. 24th and Feb. 25th at Rideau High School in Ottawa.

NEAO is the Provincial Subject Association for Native Studies and Native Language teachers. We seek to support quality authentic Aboriginal content across the K-12 curriculum and thus have planned professional development for Elementary classroom teachers and Secondary subject specialists as well. This conference seeks to give educators; ideas, resources, teaching methodologies, and other strategies that are practical and culturally appropriate.
